Verrières Ridge to the Falaise Pocket

The first stop on this tour is the memorial and viewing area on Point 67. From here (weather permitting) the views are tremendous and help provide context for what follows. We'll discuss the fighting for Verrières Ridge, following Fifth Canadian Infantry Brigade. We then head down into St-Martin-de-Fontenay, focusing on the costly actions of the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada.

A quick drive south of Caen taking us past Troteval Farm brings us to the small village of St-Aignan-de-Cramesnil. Here we'll look at Operation Totalize, as Canadian, British and Polish units pushed towards Falaise. We'll discuss Allied innovation, the problems encountered and the German response.
